Nestor Ramon Caro-Chaparro has been involved in narcotics trafficking since the late 1980's. He is responsible for sending multi-ton cocaine shipments from Colombia through Brazil to New England. In the late 1990s, he was a high-ranking member of a smuggling operation. He was involved in a large-scale drug and money laundering operation responsible for smuggling bulk quantities of cocaine in sea containers from Brazil to the United States totaling over 5 metric tons. Caro-Chaparro was indicted in the Eastern District of New York on September 26, 2001 for cocaine trafficking and money laundering. Caro-Chaparro allegedly has close ties to the Autodefensas Unidades de Colombia (AUC), a Colombian paramilitary organization that has been identified by the U.S. as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

The U.S. Department of State is offering a REWARD OF UP TO $5 MILLION for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Nestor Ramon CARO-CHAPARRO.
